Of course, we're hearing more and more about Premenstrual Syndrome, that period of a few days before the arrival of our period, which we live more or less well depending on the woman (and even the cycle!).
Today we know that this period can be delicate for some women on a physical and emotional level, even extremely painful.
But our cycle takes 28 days on average, which can be divided into four phases, and each of them is important.
Lunar cycle and feminine cycle
In many civilizations, the moon is associated with femininity, fertility, the female cycle. With its ballet of growth and decay, the moon evokes the cycles of life and death.
On a temporal level, the lunar cycle and the feminine cycle have the same duration.
Like the moon cycle, which is composed of four phases (first crescent, full moon, last crescent, new moon), our menstrual cycle can also be divided in this way.
Knowing these different periods allows us to apprehend them more easily, to recognize them, to accept them, and even, why not, to make them an asset for our creativity and well-being!
The 4 phases of the menstrual cycle
This phase corresponds to the menstrual period.
This is a time when we are more inward looking than outward looking, we need to rest.
Often, social interactions tire us and we have only one desire: to spend the day quietly in bed watching TV shows without anyone bothering us!
Bleeding can be seen as a cleansing, as a period of winter that is about to receive spring. When you're lucky enough to be able to manage your schedule, it's not a time to overload yourself, run around and connect with lots of people.
It's a time for calm and introspection.
The Virgo phase
Then comes the period from the end of menstruation to ovulation.
The desire to get out of our cave begins to reappear, we are ready to resume interactions with other people. Our energy gradually returns during this period. This is the time when we are most effective.
The Mother Phase
This is the time of ovulation.
Our energy and radiation reach their peak. We are then in the extreme opposite of the Witch's period: it is the phase of the menstrual cycle where we are the most outward looking, where our empathy is the most developed, where our bond with others is the most important.
The Mother phase evokes an energy of sharing and support.
Professionally, for example, it can be the ideal moment to be really connected with colleagues, partners, members of one's network, to support projects...
It's also the perfect time to strengthen family ties.
The Enchantress Phase
The female cycle finally ends with the period from ovulation to the next menstrual period.Like the cycle of the moon, like the cycle of the seasons, after reaching the climax of our cycle in terms of energy, we will slowly move towards the period of the Witch and her interiority.
It is the calm that gradually returns after the storm, and it is a phase where many women feel more intuitive... but also quickly annoyed!
The daily menstrual cycle
Digging into this question of the 4 phases of the feminine cycle is exciting, only here is a small problem: our current rhythm of life is created as if we were not cyclical beings, as if it was possible to have exactly the same level of energy every day of our lives!This is not the case for any woman, and we should not have to feel guilty about not being "on the ball" 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The different periods of the cycle bring their share of hormonal changes, emotions sometimes exacerbated, we are not linear!
The professional world in particular would gain so much from letting women manage their work according to the energies linked to their menstrual cycle: certainly, they need rest during the Witch phase, but it is a "fertile" rest, linked to introspection, which will bear fruit in the Virgo phase, where they are then able to move mountains!
